MTN FOUNDATION SPENDS N13 BILLION


The MTN Foundation has spent N13 billion on 341 projects across Nigeria.This feat has been recorded over the ten year period of the foundations existence, and the money was put towards need based projects. MTN Foundation in its quest to make a meaningful impact engaged consultants to look into the most pressing needs of the people and gave back to society through investments in education, health and economic empowerment schemes.
The chairman of the foundation, Dr Pascal Dozie, said that the MTNF was established in 2005 for the purpose of focusing MTN Nigeria’s efforts, in terms of its social investments initiatives, to help reduce poverty and foster sustainable development in Nigeria, contributing 1 per cent of MTN Nigeria’s profit after tax to the foundation. The immediate past governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said that while in office, he witnessed the MTNF’s penchant for and active involvement in tackling issues around health, education, security, environment, and sports.
