NNPC TO BECOME MORE TRANSPARENT SAYS GMD

The Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr Emmanuel Kaichukwu has said regaining the credibility of the Corporation is paramount. He has set in motion a transparency operation, which entails auditing the finances of the corporation in a timely fashion. He said the audited finances of the corporation would be made available to the public by also posting on the website regularly.
“Contracts will be made open to the public and we will choose the best module that works for us and that helps us save money.

“We need to clean the system and carry everybody along. The concept of what is right and wrong will take us very far,” Kachikwu stressed. He also noted that the refineries were currently working at 30 percent and needed to work at 60 percent for any meaningful change to the daily volumes and profitability. The NNPC Chief explained that the refineries are currently undergoing rehabilitation, with Port Harcourt being the most likely to operate at 60 per cent efficiency within the 90 day time frame given by the President.
