Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company Increases Tarrif


 The Ikeja Distribution company disclosed that it has reduced the monthly fixed charge on consumers by 50 percent.The Managing Director, Mr Abiodun Ajifowobaje said a reduction proposal has been submitted to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC for approval.According to him, Ikeja Electric has reduced the fixed charge of 50 per cent from customers bills by increasing the energy charge (KW/h).
He said: “Customer number and the percentage growth rate has been determined based on the anticipated outcome of the enumeration project currently in progress.
“Billed customer numbers would double in the next two to three years and will thereafter increase by about 3.5 per cent.”


He said the company is expending over N2 billion on metering infrastructure that the increase is to ensure that cost are properly reflected,rather than the use of estimated bills. Consumers will instead pay according to the reflective tariffs of their location.
