Theranos' Elizabeth Holmes And Top Execs To Reimagine Healthcare At The Forbes Healthcare Summit
Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest female self made billionaire and founder, chief executive of diagnostic test upstart Theranos will be one of a dozen of top executive to help reimagine the healthcare system at the forbes healthcare summit this year.
The Forbes Healthcare Summit, a 300 person invitation-only event held in New York, is a meeting place for the top minds in the pharmaceutical, insurance, and healthcare industries, including executives, scientists, investors and regulators. Previous speakers have included Michael J. Fox, then FDA commissioner Margaret Hamburg, and biotech billionaires like Patrick Soon-Shiong and Regeneron scientist George Yancopoulos.
This year, the goal is to figure out how to create the kind of care people deserve, but never get. What specific changes can be made to the system that will help fix it? Can technology, which has until now caused healthcare costs to rise, actually play a role in making healthcare not only better, but cheaper?
Elizabeth Holmes'Theranos founded Theranos in 2003 when she was 19 whiile studying chemical engineering at Stanford university.The company was originally based on her invention and patent for a way to run 30 common lab tests on blood obtained via a fingerstick using micro fluidics or lab- on -a -stick technology- a much faster and cheaper method than traditional lab testing techniques. Elizabeth has a net worth of $4.6bn.
