Trust fund pays N20 billion

In the discharge of its core responsibility to retirees, Trustfund Pensions Plc has paid over N20 billion to its retirees since it began operation.

Trustfund Regional Manager, South West, Mr Jacob Oladeji said the pension company  currently has over 40,000 retirees in its contributory pension scheme and pays N200 million yearly to retirees under it.

Speaking at the weekend in Lagos at the 2015 employers forum/interactive session for its customers, where the new scheme act was explained, Oladeji said Trustfund as a Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) has been dutiful in the discharge of its role.

He said that the Forum was organised, “due to the several mishaps that have been identified in certain areas of administration of pension funds, resulting from lack of awareness by employers concerning their responsibilities under the law, ensuring that pension contributions are remitted into employees Retirement Savings Accounts (RSA).”

He said challenges like wrong registration and payment are common issues in the scheme, which explained why the forum was initiated.
