Lagos Balogun Market Jinxed ,as another fire outbreak occurs
Popular Balogun market in Lagos was yesterday thrown into pandemonium when a fire outbreak razed several shops in a building on Balogun street injuring a number of people.
This is the second time in months when the market will be gutted in an inferno which earlier occured in another section of the market and destroyed property worth millions of Naira.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire Service Director, said they deployed two fire trucks to battle the inferno.
According to him, “Two fire trucks battled an outbreak of fire involving a six-storey building at no 33 Balogun Street, Lagos Island.
“We prevented the fire from spreading to the building. We battled it seriously and prevented it from spreading beyond the second floor.
“However, shops that had shoes, fabrics, bags in large quantities were destroyed.”
Similarly, the Tejuoso market was razed down over 8 years ago and has now been rebuilt into a modern edifice.
