Hardwork and Perseverance will always lead to the promised land. This has been Kunle Afolayan's story. October 1, the blockbuster which he produced, clinched 3 awards at the African Movie Academy awards at Port Elizabeth South Africa. The movie won the best costume design, best Nigerian film and best actor in a leading role. The costume for the movie was done by Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe and the movie was largely financed by her father, Chief Ade-Ojo.
Kunle Afolayan had been in a social media banter over his frustration with the cartel which pirated the movie, even after he has made moves to guard against this.Recently, The Bank of Industry set up a fund "BOI NOLLY" to lend to serious movie production in Nigeria. Kunle Afolayan has been the first recipient of the fund drawing down a sum of N50 million for his new movie.
