156 MASSOB MEMBERS ARRESTED.
No fewer than 156 persons suspected to be members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), have been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command in Asaba. Confirming the arrest yesterday, the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Celestina Kalu, said 11 of them were still being held for further investigation, while others, including women and children, were warned and released. She said those being held were the ring leaders of the group, adding that they would be prosecuted at the end of investigation. She said the suspects were holding meeting at Oneh Primary School, Asaba on September 6, when operatives swooped on them. She listed items recovered to include Biafra freedom song CD plate, a group photograph showing members of the group and United Nation’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People. Other items were documents containing Biafra National Anthem, the world latest vote on Biafra, one Sony camera and a book entitled, “Agueleri: The pivot of the Bani-Israil in Nigeria.” Kalu said the police was determined to enforce the laws of the land, stressing that anyone found to have contravened the law would face the full weight of the law, no matter how highly placed.
