Delta State approves N400 million for students finance
The Delta State Government has approved N400m to finance its students’ assistance scheme, Mr Jude Senebe, the Commissioner for Higher Education, has said.
Senebe made the statement on Tuesday in Asaba while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the State Executive Council.
He said the money would be utilised to pay bursary and scholarship for students, who registered for the scheme.
The commissioner added, “The N400m was approved by the immediate past administration, but it was not released; 31,859 students had been verified to benefit from it.”
Senebe said the verification of the beneficiaries was still on, stressing that loopholes had been uncovered in the operations of the scheme over the years.
“The verification will help us plug such loopholes; we want to have a system that is clean,” he said.culled from Punch
